Job Title: PRJ-400 Music Mentor, F24

Reports to: Pamela Mathues

Class times: Senior PR-J400
Tuesday & Friday – 3:00-5:20 p.m.

Job Description: Assist the Senior film team with music and sound. The goal is to create festival-ready final sound and music for the film by the end of the semester. You will also create music/sound for the trailer. The composer will work with the team in a collaborative, iterative process.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Advise senior film team regarding music and sound choices
  • Implement feedback from the team in a timely manner and offer solutions
  • Be willing to work in an iterative process
  • Support the tone and mood of the film
  • Add clarity to important story moments with key sound effects.
  • Attend team meetings to stay current with any changes in the film.
  • Do at least 2 iterations on music/sound to allow time for notes from team and faculty
  • Work closely with Prof. Schwedler to ensure proper outcomes, including file types and specifications needed for festivals.
  • Create music for the film trailer
  • Accountable for tracking and reporting the amount of time worked

Qualifications/Competencies

  • Comfortable with multiple aspects of the music/sound pipeline
  • Previous experience composing for DigiPen film teams
  • Able to give critique in a professional manner
  • Strong communicator
  • Reliable, punctual, and invested in the success of their fellow students
  • Be able to work independently

Working Conditions:

  • Be able to meet with the film team online at least once a week
  • Consistently deliver rough passes of the music/sound so the film team can give notes.
  • Attach the sound to the film at least 48 hours before the final semester milestone
  • Be able to meet with team and Prof. Schwedler to approve final mix delivery

Expected dates of employment: November 13, 2024 – December 27, 2024

Hours per week: 5

Wage: $20 per hour
