Job Purpose

DigiPen Student Affairs is committed to student success at DigiPen Institute of Technology. New Student Orientation (NSO) is designed to introduce new students to DigiPen and prepare them for their academic journey. The Orientation Leaders are a team of students who assist NSO by sharing their experiences, tips, and advice with new students, and help ease the transition into college life.

Student workers must reside within the state of Washington. Remote work outside of Washington will not be permitted.

The Orientation Leader (OL) position exists to assist new students in their transition to DigiPen Institute of Technology.

Duties & Responsibilities

Additional tasks include the following:

Administrative Tasks

  • Prepare materials for incoming students

  • Attend in-person training prior to New Student Orientation

  • Setup & Tear down of decorations, tables, and chairs

  • Assist with NSO Check-In

Inter-Personal Tasks

  • Serve as a positive role model for new students and their families

  • Acquaint new students with campus services, activities, facilities, and campus rules and regulations

  • Encourage new students to fully participate in the DigiPen community

  • Promote interaction among new students by facilitating icebreakers and small group discussions on college transition-related concerns and opportunities

  • Educate incoming students on academic planning tools for success

Policy Enforcement

  • Uphold and abide by the policies and procedures of DigiPen Student Handbook

Other Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with and refer students to the appropriate support services and personnel offices as needed (Counseling, Academic Support Center, and Student Affairs)

  • Assist in the Facilitation of DigiPen Housing Move-In Dates - August 24th, and August 31st, 2024

  • Respect and maintain appropriate relationships with students

Qualifications / Competencies

  • Must have completed at least one semester at DigiPen to apply

  • Must be available for training during August

  • Must not be an RA for the 2024-2025 Academic Year

Time Commitment

  • Total Days Needed: Friday, August 23 - Saturday, August 31

    • OL Training: Friday, August 23

    • Housing Move-In: Saturday, August 24 & Saturday August 31

    • NSO & Events: Saturday, August 24 - Friday August 30

Wage Range:

$16.28 per hour


DigiPen Student Employee Academic Requirements:

  • Are currently a Matriculated student at DigiPen Institute of Technology
  • Completed at least one semester at DigiPen before August 2024
  • Good Academic Standing – not on Academic Warning as defined in DigiPen Course Catalog
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher

Requirement Exceptions:

Students selected for the Orientation Leader role who are living in DigiPen Housing & Residence Life housing for the 2024-25 academic year may be allowed to move in on Wednesday, August 21

It is possible to still be selected for a position with DigiPen if you do not meet the requirements above, so don't let that dissuade you from applying!

Once you have applied forand the supervisor decides to offer you – a position, we will contact the necessary managers (Supervisor, Department Chair, and/or the Dean of Faculty) to complete and sign off on an Academic Waiver form, depending on which requirements need to be waived. Once the Waiver is returned to us, we'll continue you through the hiring process.
